Using the database
HOW TO SEARCH BY SONG TITLE, ARTIST OR ALBUM TITLE OR ANY KEYWORD:
Enter as much of the title in SIMPLE SEARCH. Always remember to omit the
word "the" when the song title starts with "the".
EXAMPLE when you are looking for the song title THE NEARNESS OF YOU, you enter
NEARNESS OF YOU in the SIMPLE SEARCH. The results give you all the compilation
songbooks that include this title in it's index. If you click in the title
of the songbook, you will see another screen with more detailed information,
like what other songs are included. It is here you can find the PRICE of the
item and the identification number(ID NUMBER) of the item.
EXAMPLE when you are looking for printed music/songbooks by artist, let's
say THE BEATLES. Always omit the "THE" from group names so enter
BEATLES. The results show all the music books by THE BEATLES.
You will notice that books for all instruments are shown. If you only want
to find all BEATLES music books for FLUTE, you have to use the ADVANCED SEARCH.
It is very important to enter the correct name of the artist or composer.
EXAMPLE If you enter JOHN SEBASTIAN BACH as composers name, you will not only
get all the music from BACH but you will also get all the music from ELTON
JOHN. Just enter BACH (or BACH J.B.)to get his music alone.
Sometimes if the name is to short, it can occur that somebody else has
that name as a part of his own name.
Enter last name of the artist first. If you have more people of the same name(like
BACH has)then you enter the first letter of his forename like BACH J.B. after
the composers last name.
WHAT IF YOU GET NO RESULTS FOR YOUR SEARCH
Classical composers can have several possibilities in how their name is
written. Tchaikowski is one of those names. Enter as much of the name that
you are certain of.
EXAMPLE if you enter TCHAI only, you still get all the music from TCHAIKOWSKY.

ADVANCE SEARCH
This wonderful tool is designed for easy and quick research in the whole database for a combination of one or more specifics.
SEARCH BY GENRE OR STYLE
Select one of the genres in the pull-down menu.
EXAMPLE you want to browse in our FILM AND MUSICAL department, just select
your choice from the menu. Click on search and browse to the results.
Compilation songbooks have full listing of their titles by simply
clicking on it's title.
If you look for any style that is not included in the pull-down menu,
just enter the style in the SIMPLE SEARCH or in the title space from the
ADVANCED SEARCH if you want to combine this STYLE with an instrument or artist.
EXAMPLE Enter RAGTIME or BLUES or CAJUN, click on search and the results shows
you all the music books in that style.
If you want to combine this with an instrument, use the ADVANCED SEARCH
EXAMPLE You want to know if we have CAJUN music books for ACCORDION enter
ACCORDION as instrument in the right space or you can also select accordion
from the POSSIBLE INSTRUMENTS pull down menus, look under KEYBOARD instruments.
You can hold it by a double click. Then click on search.
HOW TO SEARCH FOR INSTRUCTIONAL BOOKS OR METHODS
Click on POSSIBLE INSTRUMENTS and select your instrument method in the pull-down menus. You can combine this with a name.
